Frances Clarke BA(Hons), DipTransIOL, MCIL

Based in Saffron Walden, near Cambridge, I studied German and Italian at Durham University before embarking on a career in corporate finance. After several years in London as a corporate finance and investment management analyst, I returned to my roots as a linguist to become a full-time freelance German to English translator. I was awarded the Diploma in Translation by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in May 2013, and became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists the same year.

My prior experience within the financial sector provides me with a solid understanding of and familiarity with company and market documentation and the communication requirements of both the authors and readers of such documents. I translate for a variety of end clients including leading European banks and investment funds.

I am also able to harness a lifelong fascination with sport to produce well-crafted sports translations, including match reports, news articles, press releases, marketing materials and statistical handbooks. My end clients include internationally recognised sports clubs, national sporting associations and international governing bodies.

Please see the Services page for a more detailed summary of the typical document types I translate on a regular basis.
